Nordplus project Sustainability: Global Problems and Local Solutions. Students’ conference in Estonia, Haapsalu, 8-13 October 2023: Sustainable Natural Environment. Day 5

On the fifth day, we went to the capital of Estonia, Tallinn. Our workshop venue on this day was the Estonian Museum of Natural History.

In the first workshop, we played environmental games about local nature problems and how to solve them. In groups, we had to discuss the ways to solve different environmental problems. For example, if toxic chemicals get into the forest somewhere, what would be the right thing to do? In the course of the workshop, we discussed the most important problems of nature preservation and ways to solve them.

The second workshop was about the natural life of the Baltic Sea: which species live in the sea and which sea plants are common there. We also got to know what we can do on a daily basis to make the Baltic Sea more sustainable. In that workshop we got to taste one particular type of seaweed, it was salty but extremely healthy. Some of us were really keen on this delicacy and used it as an alternative to crisps.

Then everybody got plenty of free time for lunch, and a walk, and after that, we parted ways until the next time.
